Papa gives Mila a conker.
“One for you, one for me.
When you squeeze yours, I’ll squeeze back.”On this page: ChildDad - Page 3
Outside, Papa waves.
Inside, everything is new.
“See you later!”
Mila holds the conker close to the heart.
The conker stays here.On this page: ChildDad - Page 4
A child holds out a block.
“Shall we build it higher?”
Mila looks at the block.
The conker is still waiting in one hand.
All the way to the top?On this page: Child - Page 5

High, higher …
One more block!
The tower … stands!

Now Mila paints a sun.
Yellow, yellow, yellow!
The apple can wait.
The conker lies on the windowsill.
